Route description:
Spectacular mountain loop that will for the first time cross the BAZTAN region, specifically the border area between the famous towns of Zugarramurdi and Sara. There is a mountain called Arxuri or Silver Rock, named for how its rocks reflect the sun’s rays.
On this occasion, we will take the opportunity to learn about peatlands, since the Arxuri peatland is a protected natural area (ZEC) that provides us with information dating back up to 5,000 years. Its value from a biodiversity, geological, and historical perspective is therefore exceptional.
On the other hand, in Navarra five carnivorous plants are registered, and four of them can be found in the peatland areas of this enclave.
Clothing: Hiking boots or sneakers / sportswear / Gore-tex or raincoat in case of rain or wind / fleece or sweater for warmth / jacket or down coat in case of cold / walking stick or trekking poles.
For drinking: At least one liter of water.
