After College (Business Administration), I left my home town San Sebastian to travel the world, I had the opportunity to live in several countries like Ireland, France, Iran, Mexico or Benin. These experiences gave me the chance to learn about other cultures around the world.
After my experiences abroad, I decided to come back to San Sebastian and settle down in my native city for guiding and showing to visitors the magic of the region.
I love nature and on my free time I love to go into the ocean for surfing or swimming and into the mountains for climbing or trekking.
I am also passionate of history and culture and a good food lover, always ready for good tasting meal 🙂
I am looking forward to meeting you and transmit you the magic of our region, let’s do it combining 3 Basque passions: gastronomy, culture and nature, I am sure we are going to have a great time together.

Gontxu Mountain Guide in San Sebastian
Since I was a teenager, my passion has always been nature and mountains. In 2017, I started a two-year professional training to become a certified mid-mountain guide.
In 2019, I obtained my official qualification, which ensures I have the knowledge and skills to guide groups in mountain terrain. This allows me to lead all types of hikes, as long as no technical equipment such as ropes, crampons or ice axes is required.
Thanks to this certification, I can also provide specific insurance coverage for all my guests in case of accident or mountain rescue.

Group Hiking Tours in San Sebastian – Mendivueltas
During the Covid period, when travel was restricted, I started looking for a way to continue guiding. The answer was simple: create a local hiking community.
That’s how Mendivueltas was born. “Mendi” means mountain in Basque, and “vuelta” means tour in Spanish — a natural way to describe a hiking experience.
Today, Mendivueltas is a community of more than 100 people from different countries, mainly based in San Sebastian. We meet every 1–2 months to explore the landscapes and nature of the Basque Country.
These group hiking tours are more than just walks. They are a way to connect with nature, meet new people and enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.
Each experience includes guiding services, explanations about the environment and insurance coverage in case of accident.
